The targets set at the CVM (Cooperation and Verification Mechanism) level for the Parliament are met, on Tuesday said the chairman of the legal Committee with the Romanian Senate, Robert Cazanciuc after a meeting of the legal committees with the European Commission's delegation on a visit to Romania for a new evaluation mission within the CVM. "We've explained how each objective has been achieved, the decision-making process, the transparence and what we shall do from now on, the Parliament's very clear commitment to support the judiciary. You'll see in the next period actions of this solid commitment, our wish to cover all that currently means parliamentary debate on the Justice laws in an uniform framework, with an aggregated vision, with all of the parties present, with guests from outside, so that eventually we'll have some very clear proposals to rearrange the legislation, that we'll end in having coherent, clear pieces of legislation," Cazanciuc said at the Parliament Palace.
In his turn, the chairman of the legal committee with the Deputies' Chamber, Eugen Nicolicea said the members of the two committees have answered the European experts to certain observations regarding the parliamentary immunity, stressing that according to the Constitution, any MP could be sent to court and criminally prosecuted for deeds that have nothing to do with the votes or the declarations they make. The European Commission's evaluation mission within the CVM is ongoing from 18 to 21 September.
