Secretary General of the opposition Social Democratic Party (PSD) Paul Stanescu says the Social Democrats will table a motion of censure today, regardless of the Constitutional Court's ruling on a similar move by the Save Romania Union - Freedom, Unity and Solidarity Party (USR PLUS) alliance, minor at rule, and the opposition Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR).
"Chairman Marcel Ciolacu already announced last night that we intend to table the motion of censure today, regardless of the CCR ruling. We will discuss all these issues today at the meeting of the National Political Council, to see exactly what we are doing. I think we should urgently table the motion of censure, because enough is enough. Health, economy, schools, we are talking about anything, things have already reached a peak that can no longer be tolerated. (...) I think it is better for the chairman of PNL [National Liberal Party], the one who is now at the helm, not to be the prime minister, it is better for everyone," Stanescu told Antena 3 private broadcaster.
He added that even if the CCR postpones ruling on the motion already tabled in Parliament, PSD will table its own motion of censure.
"All the informal discussions I have had with my colleagues in the country point to everyone's determination for the party to table the motion of censure today, regardless of the CCR ruling. I believe that what happened at the PNL Congress convention was enough for the whole country and persuaded us to do it faster," the PSD official said, Agerpres informs.
