As of end-October 2024, 19,002,912 Romanians eligible to vote

The Standing Electoral Authority (AEP) announced on Friday that there were 19,002,912 Romanians eligible to vote featuring in the Electoral Register as of October 31, up 8,622 from the previous month's 18,994,290 Romanian voters.

According to AEP, the difference is a result of the current operations carried out by mayors in the Electoral Register and the import of data from the General Directorate of Passports (DGP).

In October, 388 people were removed from the Electoral Register as a result of their deaths, as well as 323 people whose right to vote was rescinded.

At the same time, 70 persons regained their electoral rights as a result of deregistration having expired.

The number of voters who turned 18 in the same period is 19,338, and they were automatically entered in the Electoral Register by AEP based on reports from the General Directorate for Personal Records (DGEP).

According to data imported from DGP, 3,741 new voters were entered into the register.

AEP also said that, out of the total number of Romanian voters featuring in the Electoral Register, 18,011,923 have a domicile or residence in Romania and 990,989 have a domicile abroad and hold Romanian passports.

Under Law 208/2015, the Electoral Register is a national information system for registering and updating the identification data of the Romanian citizens eligible to vote and the information regarding their allocation at the polling stations.
