Prime Minister Florin Citu declared on Wednesday that he is against exceptions for certain professions being introduced in the bill that forbids the collection of both pension and wage in the public system, according to AGERPRES.

"I've seen the bill, certain things need to be changed, but overall it looks very good and it has my entire support," Citu said at the House of Parliament.

Asked if the bill will provide for exceptions for teachers and doctors, the Prime Minister replied: "No. I don't agree with any exceptions among public sector employees; we'll see if a special case is possible, but I do not agree with exceptions."

Citu said that the draft regulatory act will be available in public transparency.

"In addition to banning the collection of both a pension and a wage, this bill also introduces a very important provision - retiring after the age of 65, upon request. One can go up to 70 years. (...) I say that this is very important and it totally changes the paradigm that has been around so far in Romania and will attempt to solve the long-term problem with the sustainability of the pension system," the Prime Minister stated.
